Chapter 4 · Electricity, Magnetism & Light

Assigned readings

This is the parent timetable. Learners follow chapter and unit names. Each chapter uses four consecutive weeks; dedicated consolidation, project, sample, and exam weeks make the complete 36-week plan.

This week’s goals

Read the linked chapter opening and the background/short teaching parts named in each session. All required case information and investigation records are supplied on the site; external references are optional extensions. On assessment days, use the paper’s provided scenarios and relationships.

Five suggested 35–45-minute sessions. Midterm response blocks total 90 minutes; final response blocks total 135. The sample uses 45 minutes. Actual optional drying/observation can span longer intervals; use the supplied records when necessary and extend teaching for comprehension.

Session 1 · Midterm preparation

Retrieve a relevant scientific distinction, test it against the stated evidence, and use a corrected example rather than copy an answer. Extend or reteach when comprehension needs more time.

Your task

Build a four-chapter concept map and rehearse one fresh measurement, matter, energy, and circuit/light explanation. Read instructions and agree support without opening the paper’s key.

  1. Prepare (5 minutes): retrieve the relevant idea and state today’s question.
  2. Read/examine (10 minutes): use the linked unit, diagram, or supplied record; note units and conditions.
  3. Apply (15–25 minutes): complete the task, showing evidence and reasoning before opening guidance.
  4. Reflect (5 minutes): revise one choice, explain the correction, and save the work.
Hint and response guidance

Begin with the actual observation, quantity, or diagram relationship. Explain how it bears on the question before making a broad claim.

Distinguish data from causes, matter from energy, heat from temperature, charge from energy transfer, and angles from the correct reference. Use a short example to test each distinction.

  • An accurate scientific claim answering the actual question.
  • Relevant evidence or a labeled model with quantities and units when applicable.
  • Reasoning that connects evidence with the mechanism rather than only repeats it.
  • A specific method, boundary, scale, or alternative-explanation limit.

Session 2 · Midterm · first 45 minutes

Retrieve a relevant scientific distinction, test it against the stated evidence, and use a corrected example rather than copy an answer. Extend or reteach when comprehension needs more time.

Your task

Begin the 90-minute midterm with the supplied scenarios and reference relationships. Use this first 45-minute block for reading and the first response group.

Work independently with agreed support. Show quantities and reasoning; the 20 questions cover all twenty first-semester units.

Session 3 · Midterm · second 45 minutes

Retrieve a relevant scientific distinction, test it against the stated evidence, and use a corrected example rather than copy an answer. Extend or reteach when comprehension needs more time.

Your task

Complete the same midterm in its remaining 45 minutes, check units and unanswered items, and submit without opening the key.

The two blocks form one timed paper. Check whether each response states the mechanism or evidence limit rather than only a numerical answer.

Session 4 · Midterm marking and corrections

Retrieve a relevant scientific distinction, test it against the stated evidence, and use a corrected example rather than copy an answer. Extend or reteach when comprehension needs more time.

Your task

After human marking, explain two missed skills and write a new short example for each. Keep the attempt, criterion marks, and corrections.

Apply each of the three criteria individually. A new example should show the corrected reasoning rather than copy the key, and supported alternatives may earn full credit.

Session 5 · First-semester conference

Retrieve a relevant scientific distinction, test it against the stated evidence, and use a corrected example rather than copy an answer. Extend or reteach when comprehension needs more time.

Your task

Discuss the four investigations, Project 1, and midterm corrections. Identify a concept that needs reteaching before Earth studies.

The notebook gives process evidence a paper cannot fully show: original predictions, method choices, complete records, revised diagrams, and explained corrections. Use those artifacts to choose a specific next step.

Read aloud in short sections if needed and ask the learner to explain an observation before its cause. Compare written reasoning with the criteria and actual records, accepting supported alternatives. Keep learner answers and marks separately backed up. No personal disclosure, public posting, or product purchase is required.
