Physical Science: Matter, Forces & Energy — Grade 8
Student & parent course guideReading libraryParent teaching plan · 36 weeks- Properties of Matter
Use particle models, measurements, and material properties to explain and compare the matter around us.
- Phases of Matter
Explain solids, liquids, gases, and changes of state using particle motion and energy transfer.
- Chemistry
Use evidence and models to explain chemical change, conserve atoms, and track energy transfer.
- Forces
Model balanced forces, gravity, friction, electric and magnetic interactions, and fluid pressure.
- Motion
Describe movement with measurements and graphs, then use Newton’s laws to explain changes.
- Work & Machines
Explain how machines transfer energy, trade force for distance, and improve useful output.
- Energy & Heat Transfer
Trace energy transfers and transformations and investigate how thermal energy moves.
- Waves, Sound & Light
Connect vibrating sources, wave properties, sound, light and information with a complete source–medium–receiver model. This is a required chapter and is included in the course final.
