- I can identify the actor, conduct, and protection.
- I can explain a civic or economic mechanism using evidence, assumptions, and a qualified conclusion.
4 questions, written answer, each with a worked explanation.
Vocabulary used: civil liberty, civil right, free exercise, establishment, scope.
Problem 1
Answer and explanation
Duties, authority, and remedies depend partly on who acted and in what capacity. Government action and private disagreement are not automatically governed identically. Identify the conduct and applicable protection before drawing a conclusion.
Problem 2
Answer and explanation
Popularity is different from the authority and conditions governing a restriction. Compare the actual conduct, rule, harm evidence, and treatment of comparable groups. Apply the same standard when the speaker’s views change.
Problem 3
Answer and explanation
Explanation demonstrates understanding of an idea and its context. Affirmation requires a personal commitment. A course can assess accurate description without making a student adopt or reject a religion; the participation requirement and governmental setting must be identified.
Problem 4
Answer and explanation
A purpose identifies an aim; scope identifies what the measure actually does and whom it affects. Compare authority, relevance, evidence, procedures, and alternatives. A genuine concern does not independently establish that every collection or restriction is permitted or effective.
